Fine Carpets is owned and Operated by Michael Geraghty.  His association with textiles in general and carpets in particular started with a Cadetship in a large department store in the days when such organisations nurtured young trainees with a variety of experiences and training. He was one of the original franchisees invited to join the then fledgling Harvey Norman Group. He ran David Jones Carpet operation in New South Wales and then opened up his Original Business, Carpet Design Centre in Glebe which he sold two years ago prior to starting Fine Carpets.

The expertise gained in these organisations has been supplemented by hands on experience in measuring, cutting and installing carpets.

In addition, having been based in Melbourne in the 1980’s-the Heyday of Australian Carpet Manufacturing, Michael was able to participate in a number of technical courses and seminars provided by manufactures in the two principal manufacturing areas, Dandenong and Geelong.

Such experience these days is a rare commodity and unfortunately, due to the decline of local textile manufacturing, no longer accessible.
